K-2 T’fillah Service Songs!

Morah Molly recorded the songs that she uses in the K-2nd Grade Service.

A message from Morah Molly:
This is a link to everything that we are currently doing in our J-JEP K-2 morning service. I have recorded sound files of the tunes and also a sound file for each prayer with slow pronunciations. The slow pronunciations are labeled “words.” If you have the CD from last year, it is pretty much the same except that there is an additional melody for Barchu. We have been using the Siegel version.

There are some slight variations from the Siddur Sim Shalom text to the Mishkan T’Filah text in the Amidah/T’filah. There is a spot in that prayer where the reform prayerbook says “Avoteinu v’Imoteinu” (our fathers and our mothers) and the conservative prayerbook says only “Avoteinu.” (our fathers) Both prayerbooks go on to list the patriarchs and matriarchs after that, and in the same order. When we learn more of that prayer, there are one or two other word differences from one text to the other. I will provide both versions, although currently I only have the Mishkan T’filah version up there.

Please take some time to listen to this with your child(ren) at home. It is more fun and more rewarding for them when they have done the work and can take pride in being able to participate fully. We would like to start inviting classes to lead sections of the service and making our T’filah time more interactive.

Have a great week everyone! See you in two weeks.

Registration Now Open

We are thrilled to already be planning for the 2013-2014/5774 JJEP School Year! Our calendar is quickly filling up with exciting events such as a retreat for the 6th and 7th graders, family breakfasts, Shabbat experiences and much more!

This year we will be offering different options and opportunities for Beth Shalom and Rodef Shalom families. When you click the link to our registration form, you will see that Beth Shalom families are invited to also attend Family Hebrew on Sundays and the Hebrew program at Rodef Shalom on Wednesdays. Additionally, Rodef Shalom families are welcome to also attend the midweek program at Beth Shalom on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

This year’s registration fee includes tuition, materials charge, and the student fees for up to two Shabbat Experiences.

After analysis, we have determined that the average cost of JJEP is approximately $2,000 per a student. We are so grateful that Congregations Beth Shalom and Rodef Shalom and their respective memberships are able to significantly subsidize the education to the costs indicated on the registration form.

Due to the amount of special activities that we are planning for this upcoming school year, we are asking you to register as early as possible. In fact, we are offering a discount of $54 per student if you register BY JULY 12th. The discount is already included in the pricing if you click the link today. The pricing listed online will increase by $54 on July 12th. Please note that this does not mean you necessarily pay the day you register. There are different payment options available on the page.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone on September 8th for a fun-filled first day! Until then, we wish everyone a wonderful summer.

As always, please contact me should you have any questions.

B’Shalom,

Liron Lipinsky
